Thanks for your interest in working with Cathedral Horticultural Studio. I'm Jamie, Head Gardener, and I'll be here throughout our time together to offer advice, act as a safe pair of hands, and help bring your vision to life.
I've been obsessed with all aspects of horticulture since becoming a father, finding immersing myself in a hobby I could do at home was massively beneficial for my mental health. I'm proud to currently be working with the Royal Horticultural Society to further my knowledge of horticulture and its associated practices. When I'm not harvesting, propagating, or studying, I can be found spending time with my wife, son, and dog.
Throughout my life, I've found ways to enjoy gardening in the most limited of spaces. Even without my own outdoor space, I poured my free time into bonsai and house plants, before then acquiring a very small and almost totally shaded outdoor paved area. In this space, I took immense joy in growing my own chillies, tomatoes, and cucumbers, filling the rest of the space with annual flowers and spring bulbs.
Now, I'm lucky enough to have my own decent sized garden. When we moved in, it was literally just a plain lawn with an area of bare soil completely covered in brambles, dying trees and bindweed. Fast forward to today, I've dug enormous flower beds/borders around the lawn which are now thriving with a mixture of wildlife-friendly trees, long-flowering shrubs, hardworking perennials, and bold, bright annuals. The patch of bare soil has been converted into a fully-functioning kitchen garden, from which I have harvested (to name a few) countless chillies, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and potatoes.
Family is so important to me, and something which I think goes hand in hand with gardening. If you choose to work with Cathedral Horticultural Studio, you can feel comfortable knowing your garden is in the safe hands of a family-focused and sustainable business.
